The underlying philosophy of homeopathy uses several principles, one of which is the maintaining cause.
In really simple terms, maintaining cause is an action or situation that keeps us unwell. A simple example is trapping a finger in the door. Until you remove your finger from the situation, painkillers will not stop the underlying issue.
When working with a client, I will take their case history, information about their current health symptoms and family history, along with any other information that is appropriate to their case.
Additionally, I will also look at what has happened prior to my client becoming ill, their life circumstances and their story leading up to the ill health.
With this information, I analyse the facts to formulate a treatment plan using remedies, diet, herbs and eating habits as appropriate. We also look at what is keeping the client unwell, the maintaining cause. It may be that right now, the circumstances can not change, but if we are aware of what is not working right now, we are more likely to identify opportunities to make the shifts we need.
Here is a video from a recent FB explaining more about maintaining cause.
