Chocolate Nut Butter
Commercial Nut Butters are very sugary, and so are not an ideal part of the diet. If you are trying to minimise your sugar intake, or have a healthier slant on your diet, here is a little recipe I used to make for my daughter - and she still loves it now.
The ingredients I use here do not have quantities, it is about you finding your desired consitency and taste. When I used to make it for my daughter, we did not use any additional sweetener, but did use cashew nut butter, which is quite sweet in itself. I used raw carob powder as it is less stimulating, and I also used to add just a tiny bit of greens powder (not too much otherwise it could be tasted).
I would love to here how you get on with your recipe and what you make with it,
Ingredients you will need
A portion of your favourite nut butter
Cacao or Carob Powder
A little honey (optional)
A little warm water to mix
I would suggest starting with a tablespoon of nut butter to a teaspoon of powder and a drizzle of honey (if using).
What you need to do
Put the portion of nut butter in a bowl with the cacao / carob powder and a little honey if using. Mix it together with a spoon (I use a metal long handled teaspoon), adding about a teaspoon of hot water at a time until you get the desired consistency.
Only make up a small batch at a time, as I found this did not keep well (not that there was often much left I have to add).
My daughter enjoyed enjoyed dipping slices of apple into her nut butter when she was small, now she likes to pop it on her gluten free toast.
How would you like to enjoy yours?
