Winter Tree Planting with I Dig Trees
I run forest schools for Home Schooled Children. This year the sessions have been especially important for the children. It has enabled the children to socialise, albeit in a distanced manner, with others. You really can have too much on-line education, especially when a child.
I had a comminity tree planting event on Sunday 20th December, where families booked their individual tree planting slot and the number of trees they wanted to dedicate and plant. As I managed the session in a really socially distanced manner, I did not really have opportunity to take the photos I would have liked to. Lets hope we can have more fun next winter.
Each family enjoyed the process of taking time together to remember loved ones and spend time out in Nature, connecting with earth and having an opportunity to be outside.
We were really blessed with a bright, sunny day that was not too cold or windy. A kind of perfect end to a year that seems far from perfect.
One of the children placed a star she had made on the support cane for her chosen tree. "That way Grandma can see her tree easily when she looked down to earth".
This is the second year I have invited families from my forest school to take part in a free dedicating and tree planting session - it may become a tradition, as everyone really enjoys the gift it bears.
