One way to lift your spirits is to acknowledge the need for more rest, and go with the flow, if you feel tired, you may actually be tired, so hibernation when you finish the day is not a bad idea, snuggle up and rest and enjoy the chance to retreat in the shorter days. My word of wisdom to this though, is put your technology down, switch it off - remove yourself from the radiation, and truly rest - you will thank me for it!
Another issue may be lack of sunlight (I know that is obvious). The sunlight brings us vitamin D, and you may need a boost of vitamin D to lift your mood and energy. Take a look at what you are eating, cosy dark nights make us want to eat comfort food - like toasties, sandwiches, chips, cake, sweets, chocolate.... and you probably had an excess amount of that over Christmas and New Year too, so your poor body does not need extra sludge - it needs to regenerate. Couple your early nights with healthful eating - replace the wheat with quinoa or brown rice, have warming foods - because it is chilly and damp outside. have warm nourishing herb teas to lift your day (look at Pukka Feel New for example, or Heath and Heather Apple and Cinnamon), or if herbal teas are not your thing, enjoy some green tea, or make a brew of fresh grated ginger, with a slice of fresh lemon and honey (if needed) to taste.
