Christmas Advent 2

2nd December

I recall the December's of my childhood being cold, with ice on the ground and sparkly patterns created by Jack Frost whilst we were sleeping. As a child you notice so much around you that is taken for granted. It is not until you stop and look back that you appreciate the journey.

Today, take a moment to start taking note of the weather signs around you. What is December like for you where you live. Is it cold and icy, sunny and warm, wet and gray. What memories does it invoke for you. If you feel inspired, record the weather for the month. Maybe colour a square or section of an image a day, or if you craft, knit sew or crochet (for example) use appropriate colour materials for a part of a project each day. Make it fun creating a memory of the everyday that you take for granted.

And most of all enjoy day two of Advent.

Great idea Dawn. Looking out of my window right now so would do a shining bright, light golden colour, surrounded by pale blue deepening to light grey. I am off to do it!!! X

A specific childhood memory was going out in the deep snow in my new red boots! I thought they were were amazing boots and so proud of them!

A new pair of shoes or boots that brings joy to the heart stays with us for ever, it is a good memory to tap into

I was so surprised to see my comment from last year. It was interesting to see an obviously similar morning a year later. What struck me this morning was the coldness of the yellow and blue at 8am. However, by the time I left for work at 9.45 the light was much warmer and because I had read your post, I felt very aware of my surroundings. At 15.45 it was a different matter. After teaching for 5 hours I felt my 77 years. I was in pain in my back and knees and very tired. Walking down the garden my discomfort was prominent until I thought of your post. I literally stopped and realised that although I had been looking around, my concentration was elsewhere so I chose to change it and again observed the colours. The rest of the walk down the garden did seem laughter on my tired body. How often do we look and not see? Thank you Dawn. X
