19th December
Every year, around this time (weather permitting of course) I love to plant trees. Ideally, the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, but as there is only ever now, now is good enough.
I plant one pine and many native species on my little farm, replacing those that have not made it, or adding to the woodland and boundaries where there is suffiscient space. I invite people who want the joy of setting a tree, but do not have the space - it is a lovely affair, whilst enjoying your own sacred space.
If you have garden space, you could plant hedge row species (such as hawthron or blackthorn) along your fence line or perimiter, or you could plant something more enjoyably edilble for you and your family, such as fruit / apple trees). Perhaps you have space for a tree in a planter, or maybe if you do not have space you could get involved in a community planting project.
You could even dedicate a tree you plant in memory of someone you have loved and lost. Or alternatively, you could make a positive wish and bless the tree with the wish. One way to do this is to make the blessing / wish and write it on paper (make sure it is a non toxic paper) and then plant it with the tree's roots.
Planting a tree is a gift to yourself now and for the future. Are you going to plant a tree?
